Some Lp Elementary students know that

WANT is followed by TO.

We also say EXPECT TO, LIKE TO, HOPE TO, NEED TO

Many Lp Intermediate students know that

After a preposition you must put the –ING form of the verb, e.g.

She prefers dancing to playING tennis.

Remember that in this sentence to is a preposition and not the infinitive particle “to play”

All Advanced Lp students should know that

To kick the bucket means to die

Every Native speaker knows that

To feel the pinch means to slowly experience financial difficulties because of circumstances beyond your control, e.g.

The Spanish tourist industry is feeling the pinch because other cheaper destinations are coming on the market

All teachers know (ahem, ahem…)

The Present Perfect Continuous tense is the

HAVE + BEEN + -ING form

e.g. It has been raining since 2 o’clock

I think that’s a fantastic piece of useless information, don’t you? (lol)
